Pryde's EasiFeed Great Southern Star

Australasia’s greatest trotters will descend upon Tabcorp Park Melton for the richest squaregaiting showdown in the Southern Hemisphere.

The January 27 Pryde’s Easifeed Great Southern Star, a 2760m war for a grand $300,000 prize will again lure New Zealand’s finest across the Tasman, including 2016 winner and 2017 runner-up Speeding Spur and the horse who has had his measure of late, fellow Kiwi Temporale.

They will come with fanfare but there will be little trepidation from the home town heroes with 2017 champion Glenferrie Typhoon, dual Group 1 winner Sparkling Success, brilliant mare Red Hot Tooth and the mighty Yabby Dam Farms team guaranteeing a battle for the ages.

And the headline event will be but one of many peaks on a golden night at Tabcorp Park, with many also sure to be lured trackside to take in the $200,000 VHRSC Victoria Derby and the long-awaited battle between brilliant colts Lumineer and Poster Boy as well as the best of Mark Purdon’s dominant All Stars.

We’ll also get to enjoy the mighty mares in the $100,000 Alabar Ladyship Cup and Purdon’s superstar Vincent is expected to put in a show of strength in the $100,000 4YO Bonanza.

All up its $834,000 worth of prize money to be won across a diverse card of elite horses on what will be a magical night fit for the whole family, with children able to revel in a host of activities.

A party atmosphere is assured via the on-course DJ, beer garden and after-party, while owners will again have the best seats in the house via the Own The Moment Marquee, where they can wine and dine while their champions chase glory.
Love summer? Love the trots.
